The ELNEC -- End of Life Education Core Curriculum -- program is designed to provide nurses and other care providers with Palliative Care knowledge and skills. The program combines lecture presentations with personal stories and experiential exercises to help the attendee incorporate principles of palliative care into their practice. Palliative Care Liaisons are requested to attend all three sessions.

Course Objectives
- At the end of the course the learner will be able to:
- Describe the role of the nurse in providing quality end of life care for patients across the lifespan
- Describe pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies used to relieve pain
- Describe interventions that can prevent or diminish symptoms at the end of life
- Apply ethical principles utilized in addressing end-of-life/palliative care dilemmas, including models for case analysis and use of ethics committees
- Discuss beliefs regarding death and dying held by various cultures
- Describe important factors in communicating bad news
- Define loss, mourning, grief, and bereavement
- Discuss how nurses can improve access and promote clinical excellence in end-of life care

Registration:
Registration is not complete until payment is received.
CHS Employees:
1. Register online via HealthStream .
CHS Travelers:
1. Register online via HealthStream.
2. Forward check for $40 per day or $100 for 3 days payment to Education Department.
NON-CHS Employees:
1. Complete registration form
2. Forward check for $60 per day or $150 for 3 days payment to Education Department.
Cancellations will be accepted by phone up to 48 hours prior to the start of the course. Participants who cancel after this time frame or are a no‐show will be charged the full amount. In the event that a course offering is cancelled, enrollees will be notified by phone or mail. Full cash refunds will be made to non‐employees.
