If your previous delivery was not at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital since our new wing opened, we recommend you take a Childbirth Center Tour. You and your children may also want to sign up for a Sibling Preparation class.
Do we need to bring a yoga mat and pillows when we attend the
Breastfeeding class or the New Parent class?
Is the one-day (Saturday) Condensed Childbirth class different from
the weeknight Childbirth Series?
No. The information is the same. However, some couples prefer attending classes on weeknights, others prefer a Saturday class.
We don’t have childcare -- may we bring children to the regular
Childbirth Center Tours held every Tuesday?
Yes, please keep children quiet and under control during the tour.
Do spouses attend the Breastfeeding classes?
Yes, our classes are designed for couples to attend.
May I take the Breathing Refresher class if this is my first child?
No, the Breathing Refresher class is designed for those who have had one to two previous births.
I missed a class because I was ill. Is there a way I can attend a make-up session?
Yes, send an email to Childbirth Education and Community CPR to request a make-up session.
If I want to register for a class will you bill my insurance for the cost of the class?
No, the childbirth education program does not bill your insurance for the class. You may contact your insurance company directly for information about coverage.
Although we registered for a childbirth preparation class we want to change
to a different class – what should we do?
