New Director of Surgical
Residency Program

 

Dr. Jeffrey M. Gauvin is the newest member of the teaching faculty at SBCH.  Dr. Gauvin is the new Director of Surgical Education at SBCH.

 

He comes to Cottage from UC Davis, where he was the Director of the Surgical Residency Program.

 

He received his MD and did his surgical residency at Michigan State University and did a gastrointestinal surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

 

Dr. Gauvin is a reviewer for multiple medical journals, including World Journal of Surgery, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Clinical Anatomy and Surgery and has published multiple book chapters and peer-reviewed articles. His numerous professional distinctions include:

  Minority Medical Student Teaching Award, Michigan State University
  Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award, College of Human Medicine, Michigan State University
  Fellow Teacher of the Year Award, Mayo Clinic, Department of Surgery
  Excellence in Teaching Recognition, Mayo Medical School, Rochester, MN
  Outstanding Resident Teaching Award, College of Human Medicine, Michigan State University
