October 15, 2013

The Center for Wound Management at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital has earned The Joint Commission's Wound Care Certification. It is now one of only three centers in California and one of 21 in the nation that have earned this prestigious designation.

The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation means that the Center for Wound Management has demonstrated compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation award recognizes the center’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.

In July 2013, a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors completed a thorough on-site evaluation of the Center for Wound Management and its compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

"The certification is a testament to the Center for Wound Management’s commitment to providing excellent quality of care with superior patient outcomes for our community,” says Susan San Marco, service line director for the Center for Wound Management and Skin Wound and Ostomy Therapy Services. “With the increased demand for our services seen throughout the tri-county area, having a wound center that has been designated a center of excellence provides an added sense of confidence in the healthcare resources in our community.”

The Center for Wound Management has two locations: one at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital and the other in Solvang. The Solvang center recently moved into a new location at 2028 Village Lane. For more information or to make an appointment, call 805-696-7920.
