Meals and Nutrition


Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is happy to offer room service meals for our patients.  We balance your culinary tastes with your nutritional needs and any modified diet your physician may have prescribed.  Registered dietitians are available to help you review these diets. For a diet consultation, please ask your nurse or physician

Patient meal service is daily between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Clinical Nutrition

 

The Registered Dietitians (RD) at Cottage are food and nutrition experts and leaders in the field of dietetics. Each RD is credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and holds at minimum a bachelor’s degree. Several RDs also have master’s degrees and hold specialty certifications. Our clinical RDs are part of the medical team administering medical nutrition therapy in the hospital and outpatient clinic setting. Our culinary RD works in food services assuring optimal nutritional quality of the room service style menus.

 

 

Registered Dietitians are available to discuss individual dietary needs.

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Dietitians

Jeannee Diaz, RD, CDE (jsdiaz@sbch.org)

Jeannee is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and also holds certification in childhood & adolescent weight loss management. She is also a California Children's Services paneled dietitian. Jeannee works in the specialty areas of inpatient trauma and in two outpatient bariatrics clinics. She conducts the bariatric support groups in Santa Barbara, Lompoc and Santa Maria. Jeanne's passion is to help people live healthier lives and, most importantly, prevent disease.

 

Courtney Robinson, MS, RD (c1robins@sbch.org)

Courtney holds a Master's Degree and is the culinary dietitian and nutrition supervisor. She has an interest in sustainable food systems, organics and culinary nutrition. Courtney also specializes in the nutritional management for celiac disease.

 

Sharon Smith, MS, RD, CDE (ssmith@sbch.org)

Sharon holds a Master of Science degree and is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). She also has certification in adult weight loss management. Sharon's specialty areas of practice include heart health, diabetes, weight loss and adult cystic fibrosis. Sharon teaches in the Heart Smart and Healthy Balance programs.

 

Dena VanKlompenburg, RD, CNSC (dvanklom@sbch.org)

Dena is a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician and specializes in medical and surgical critical care. She teaches nutrition support to medical residents and dietetic interns. Dena works closely with pharmacists in designing nutrition support formulas for the adult population.

 

Colleen Wise, RD (cwise@sbch.org)

Colleen works in the specialty areas of oncology, psychiatry, and chemical dependency. She takes an active role in teaching patients how to manage a variety of nutrition related consequences of cancer treatment.

 

Danielle Zerey, RD, CNSC (dzerey@sbch.org)

Danielle is a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician and specializes in the nutritional management of renal, liver, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and infectious disease. Danielle works closely with the medical team to ensure patients with complex nutritional problems have the best care possible.
