CPR For Family and Friends: Infant/Child

CPR for Family and Friends: Infant / Child is based on American Heart Association guidelines for the lay public and covers CPR and FBAO for infants and children up to the age of 8. This course is appropriate for parents, babysitters, and anyone else who spends time with children and wants to learn these skills.

 

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

 

CPR for Family and Friends course objectives:
This course is designed for parents, babysitters and friends who do not require “certification” for employment.

 

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss causes and prevention of injury and cardiopulmonary arrest in children
  • Demonstrate how to administer CPR and first aid for choking infants and children

Pre-registration is required. 

Course Fee: $25 per person

Refunds or reschedules require 8 hour cancellation notice.  May reschedule one time without charge; for second reschedule must re-register and pay the full $25 registration fee. Participants who cancel after this time frame or are a “no-show” will be charged the full amount. In the event that a course is cancelled, enrollees will be notified by phone or mail.

HeartSaver: Adult Course

The HeartSaver AED Adult is based on American Heart Association guidelines for the lay public and covers CPR and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for adults and children over the age of 8 years. This course is appropriate for non-professional caregivers, teachers, and any lay person who wants to learn these skills. Participants will receive a course completion card. This class includes of the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

 

Heartsaver AED Adult course objectives:
This course is designed for non-professional caregivers, teachers, and any lay person who wants to learn these skills.

 

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the links in the AHA "Chain of Survival," including the importance of dialing 9-1-1
  • Describe and demonstrate the steps of CPR and relief of FBAO
  • Describe and demonstrate the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
